The physicians and staff of Southwest Shoulder Elbow & Hand Center, PC specialize in the treatment of all problems of the upper extremity including traumatic, arthritic, pediatric, congenital, sports related and repetitive conditions.

We strive to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to our patients. As a regional care center, we are available for emergency and urgent treatment and readily available to referring physicians and practitioners.

Meet The Doctors

Timothy A. Beer, MD

Dr. Timothy Beer graduated from The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Mount Carmel Medical Center and Hand, Shoulder and Microsurgery Fellowship at The University of Florida. He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand, and is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Debra A. Bourne, MD

Debra A. Bourne, MD is a board certified hand surgeon. She earned her medical degree from Yale School of Medicine. She completed her plastic surgery residency at the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, which is consistently ranked among the top training programs in the country. After her plastic surgery residency, she completed additional fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery.

Dr. Bourne is an accomplished medical researcher. Her research is published in lead journals including HAND and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. She has won numerous research awards at the regional and national levels. She is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons where she is active in committee service. She specializes in treating the hand and wrist, soft tissue injuries, and nerve disorders. Her passion is to provide the best possible care for each patient; helping patients return to doing what they love.

Thomas E. Butler, Jr., MD

Dr. Thomas Butler Jr. graduated from the University of Arizona Medical School, completed his Orthopaedic Residency at Kansas Medical Center, and Hand Fellowship at the Hand Center of San Antonio. He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and has a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand and is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dara Chafik, MD, PhD

Dr. Dara Chafik graduated from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. He then completed a general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of California, Los Angeles followed by a shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Chafik is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He graduated from Princeton University with his bachelor’s degree and received his master’s and PhD degrees in Middle Eastern Studies and History from Harvard University.

Sameer Jain, MD, CIME

A Tucson native, Dr. Jain was accepted into medical school out of high school. He graduated with honors from Drexel University College of Medicine where he was Alpha Omega Alpha. He then completed his General Surgery Internship and Orthopaedic Residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Following this he completed two fellowships: Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at The Ohio State University and Hand and Upper Extremity/Microsurgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Jain is able to treat all disorders of the upper extremity and emphasizes treating orthopaedic problems in the least invasive way possible. He has a special interest in minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques. Dr. Jain is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a board certified Independent Medical Examiner by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.

David B. Siegel, MD

Dr. David Siegel graduated from New York University School of Medicine. He then completed general surgery internship and residency at Harvard Medical School followed by an orthopaedic residency at Harvard Medical School. He then completed two fellowships: pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital and hand/microsurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Siegel is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and has a certificate of added qualification in hand surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand where he serves on several committees. He is also on the Medical Executive Committee at the Tucson Surgery Center and serves on several community boards in Tucson. He and his wife, Linda, have been married since 1983 and have three daughters.
